Who We Are

Mary Russe, is based in New York and worked at (BMI) Broadcast Music, Inc for more than 6 years. As a director for the Latin creative team, Russe was responsible for the acquisition and retainment of BMI’s Latin songwriters and fostering relationships with the company’s affiliates throughout their careers.

Russe also coordinated BMI’s showcases, songwriting camps and educational programs for affiliated songwriters, and served as a liaison between the Latin community and the music industry at large. She spearheaded the BMI 101 En Tu Idioma and helped curate performance opportunities for Latin songwriters on BMI’s stages at festivals and conferences, including ACL, Lollapalooza, Ruido Festival and SXSW, to name a few. She also contributed new Latin Music to BMI’s Music Monday playlist on Spotify, and was director of the BMI Foundation’s Peermusic Latin Music scholarship competition.

Russe was integral in educating and supporting the Latin creative community and signed several notable songwriters and producers to BMI, including Lisandro Meza, Florentino Primera, Mareh, Leon Leiden, Silvana Estrada, Milky Woodz, KD One and Bulova, just to name a few.

Prior to BMI, Russe was based in Puerto Rico and used her photography and graphic design background to work various freelance jobs specializing in shooting live artist performances and designing album covers and event flyers. She also worked on many projects for Noctambulo, a Puerto Rican music magazine. All of this while managing several departments and supervising more than 78 employees in a 12 hour daily shift for more than 12 years.

She is currently part of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (LARAS), National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), Women In Music (WIM), Songwriters of North America (SONA) and International Society of Female Professionals (ISFP) and maintains relationships with many of the most important companies and executives in the industry.
